12 zile de Craciun/12 Days of Christmas

 Iubesc Craciunul.

1.In prima zi de Craciun... Am simtit spiritul Craciunului. Dragostea si teama de o pierde. Si cum sa „ nu ne grabim in fiecare zi, cand fiecare zi e tot ce avem”. Si am mancat placinte cu mere, insa nu din cele pe care le gasim la fiecare colt de strada, ci pe cele din timpul reginei Elisabeta I, ascultand Bing Crosby, Judy Garland sau Handel;

2.  In a doua zi de Craciun… Am vazut cum ninge, fara sa stim cine ninge. „Ar putea fi Dumnezeu”. Si am fost din nou copil, intr-o lume de poveste unde Mama de Zapada prinde viata si schimba intreaga viata a unui copil. Pentru ca, pana la urma, asta faci atunci cand ajuti pe cineva, fie ca esti Mama de Zapada, fie ca esti om cu o temperatura a corpului de 37 grade. Si am mancat varza rosie, asemenea celei ce se manca in timpul razboiului, facuta fara gres si cu multa indemanare, langa un pahar de sampanie;

3. In a treia zi de Craciun…Am stat singura, departe de civilizatie, intr-o casa de unde spiritele trecutului nu au plecat, unde Joseph si Mary au avut propria lor poveste de Craciun, insa una care trezeste mila si indignare. Si am mancat Sarlota New York, cu aceeasi reteta de pe vremea romanilor, ajunsa peste tot impreuna cu ei;

4. In a patra zi de Craciun…Am vazut cum amintirile neplacute din copilarie pot fi inlocuite cu surprize facute din inima, printre mirosul bradului si licarirea luminitelor. Si cum iti poti face tu propriul ” acasa”. In timpul asta, ascultand concertul de colinde din capela King`s College, intr-un ritual care sa te scoata din vacarm si alergat prin magazin, si sa iti dea timp sa savurezi tartine cu unt si somon;

5. In a cincea zi de Craciun… Am inteles ca „viitorul nu e batut in cuie, daca nu il lasam sa fie”, o poveste despre visurile si sperantele unei copile zdrobite in seara de Ajun de cel in care avea incredere, sotul ei. Insa, desi scapata de un destin tragic, isi gaseste linistea in razbunare. A mers perfect cu somon marinat, alaturi de o maioneza facuta in casa;

6. In a sasea zi de Craciun… Zane, Mosi Craciuni, pixeli si unguroaice sunt protagonistii unei povesti de dragoste in haine rosii, unde o ea il intalneste in sfarsit pe un el. Si la desert, o budinca  cu sherry, insiropata cu prime si ultime amintiri;

7. In a saptea zi de Craciun…o dragoste din trecut, interzisa si ascunsa de ochii lumii, incearca sa iasa la suprafata in prezent, intr-o casa de la tara, acum locuita de oameni care nu-i stiu istoria…acompaniata de galusti chinezesti, facute de infirmiera prezenta la una din mesele de Craciun de la Shakespear and Company, din Paris;

8. In a opta zi de Craciun…un caine  sarac si iubitor isi gaseste perechea, un baiat la fel ca el. Ei isi daruiesc ce e cel mai important lucru ,dragostea. Vinul fiert, cu o portocala intepata cu cuisoare la fundul oalei,imi incalzeste si inveseleste zilele si mie;

9. In a noua zi de Craciun…cei care nu si-au terminat calatoria revin din cand in cand printre noi, vorbindu-ne despre cum sa vezi moartea ca pe o usurare, ca pe o iesire. „Mancam si facem bani ca sa ne putem bucura de viata”. Si mancarea care ne face sa ne bucuram de viata este de aceasta data o reteta pakistaneza, biryani de curcan;

10. In a zecea zi de Craciun…broscoiul de argint prinde viata si salveaza copiii  saraci dintr-unorfelinat de supraveghetoarea cea rea, intr-o poveste ce aminteste de Dickens. Pentru Anul Nou, amintirile si biscuitii cu branza iau locul rezolutiilor, aceleasi in fiecare an;

11. in a 11-a zi de Craciun.. vedem nasterea Domnului prin ochii magarului, care poarte pe umerii lui povara intregii lumi si care isi spune povestea cu un strop de magie si de regalitate. Alaturi punem un sendvis cu friptura de vita, in timp ce, la 12 noaptea, de anul nou, ii facem loc sa iasa anului vechi si il primim pe cel nou;

[EN] I love Christmas. At home, where the lack of peace compensates  with too much food. When time expands and you do not  even know what day of the week it is.

I also love the one in the movies, where everyone gathers around the fireplace in a cottage surrounded by snow, where a miracle happens every Christmas Eve and where there is a magic sock for each member of the family.

Just as much I love Christmas in the old romantic books, where a meeting with the whole family involved travelling by carriage for a few days, where gifts were not bought in stores or ordered from the internet.

Besides all this, it`s impossible not to love  „12 days of Christmas”, a reading that brought me tranquility. And love, because it was a gift from a dear friend.

1.On the first day of Christmas … I felt the spirit of Christmas. The love and fear of losing it. And how to „not hurry every day, when every day is all we have.” And we ate apples, but not those we find on every corner of the street, but those of Queen Elizabeth I, listening to Bing Crosby, Judy Garland, or Handel;

2. On the second day of Christmas  … I saw how it was snowing, not knowing who was snowing. „It could be God.” And I was once again a child in a fairy tale world, where the Snow Mother changes the life of a child. Because, after all, that’s what you do when you’re helping someone, whether you’re Snow Mother or  a man with a 37-degree body temperature. And I ate the red cabbage, like the one during the war, made without any mistake and with great skill, and with a glass of champagne on the side;

3. On the third day of Christmas  … I`ve stayed alone, away from civilization, in a home where the spirits of the past haven`t left, where Joseph and Mary had their own Christmas story, but one that arouses mercy and indignation. And I ate New York Charlotte, with the same recipe from the time of the Romans, who brought it along with them everywhere;

4. On the fourth day of Christmas … I saw how unpleasant childhood memories can be replaced with surprises made from the heart, among the smell of the tree and the shining of the lights. And how can you do your own „home”.  In the meantime, listening to the carols concert at the King’s College Chapel, in a ritual meant to take you off your chopping fever and give you time to enjoy butter and salmon spreads;

5. On the fifth day of Christmas … I understood that „the future is not set in stone if I do not let it be”, a story about the dreams and hopes of a child crushed on the Eve night by the one he trusted, her husband. But even though she had a tragic fate, she gets her revenge. It went perfectly with marinated salmon, along with a home-made mayonnaise;

6. On the sixth day of Christmas  … Fairies, Santa Clauses, pixels and Hungarians are the protagonists of a love story in red clothes, where she finally meets him. And for the desert, a sherry pudding, full of raw and lasting memories;

7. On the seventh day of Christmas … a love from the past, forbidden and hidden from the eyes of the world, is trying to surface now in a country house inhabited by people who do not know its history. .. accompanied by Chinese dumplings, made by the nurse at one of the Christmas dinners at Shakespeare and Company in Paris;

8. On the eighth Christmas day … a poor and loving dog finds his mate, a boy just like him. They give each other the most important thing, love. The mulled wine, with an orange clinging to the bottom of the pot, warms me up every time;

9. On the ninth day of Christmas … those who have not finished their journey come back from time to time among us, talking about how to see death as relief, as an exit. „We eat and make money to enjoy life.” And the food that makes us enjoy life is this time a Pakistani recipe, turkey biryani;

10. On the tenth day of Christmas … the silver frog comes to life and saves the poor children from the orphanage of the bad watchman in a story reminiscent of Dickens. For the New Year, memories and cheese biscuits take the place of resolutions, the same every year;

11. On the 11th day of Christmas, we see the birth of the prince through the eyes of the donkey, who carries the burden of the whole world on his shoulders and tells his story with a touch of magic and royalty. Next we put a sandwich with the beef steak, while at 12 o’clock, the new year, we make room for the old year and we receive the new one;

12. On the 12th day of Christmas … you learn how to believe in signs, in the love that can come between two different people who are not interrupted by death, but that help you go further in life, even just by yourself. And in the 12th night you must come back to reality, not before enjoying a night in which everything is reversed and preparing for a new chance. Next to fish bells, lemon and mayonnaise.

Read and be happy 🙂
